In the infrequent battle against a lack of Drown Pirate Radio podcasting, The Vacorec is a major unit in my arsenal.

Designed in the 70’s by VRO industries out of Anaheim CA, the Vacorec is both a record cleaner and static remover.

Just slide the record into the slot, and the motor will slowly spin it around, as the brushes and vacuums do the rest. In conjunction with some Gruv-Glide I’m set. btw- These guys appear quite frequently on eBay.

Note; when I first got my Vacorec, the motor was clearly running, but the records would not spin. When I took the machine apart I noticed the spindle that record sits on was completely worn away. So I dipped it into some liquid rubber and that seems to have done the trick even though the record movement is a little less consistent (usually these devices have a very smooth spin). If you have the same problem, but don’t have any Plasti-Dip handy, you can substitute a rubber band.
