A few months ago I did production (& rapping) on The Digital Gangster LP (iTunes link), the split album by ytcracker and MC Lars. “MC Lars’s Facebook Count” is the second music video from DG and was directed by Tim Thompson and Odin Wadleigh (who also directed White Kids Aren’t Hyphy). I’m really proud of my work on the DG lp, and this track is no exception. I had a blast appearing in the video, which I also sing in obviously, and you can check out more flickr pics of the video shoot here. BTW, you can’t front like this beat isn’t fucking fantastic!

From the seller’s description; “PARIS HILTON AUTOGRAPH. AUTOGRAPH IS ON HER NEW CD COVER. ALSO INCLUDED IS A PARIS HILTON WRISTBAND FROM A PARIS HILTON PARTY DATED 8-22-06. ALSO INCLUDED IN THIS AUCTION IS A YAMAHA PSS-130 ELECTRIC KEYBOARD AND POWER ADAPTOR IN GREAT WORKING CONDITION.”

The seller goes on further to explain that the keyboard CAN be circuit bent, thus the “club dj bent it circuit” in the auction’s title. As if it isn’t bad enough that anybody with a cheap keyboard thinks they can make some cash by listing it as circuit bent, but to do it to help sell a signed Paris Hilton cd? That’s just weird.

Speaking of podcasts, for those of you who are dying for the next Drown Pirate Radio podcast, you’ll be bummed to know that I the next episode won’t be up until I buy a new computer. My laptop died over a month ago, and I’m not any closer to buying one now than I was last month.

If you’ve visited any of the nerdcore boards or listened to any 1337 Geek Beat songs recently then you probably know how pissed off MC Router was about what Wired had to say about our tiny neck of the woods.

Most complaints about the article were based around the articles brevity, but Router was more concerned with who was in ther article and how they were portrayed. In fact she was so pissed, she wrote an entire song about it, contacted Wired’s editors, and posted several drunk ass youtube rants.

Well, check this out.. Wired hasn’t beefed up the article or anything, but they put up a cool piece about the rant on their blog. Check out how the blog writer goes out of his way to point out that the nerdcore piece was written by an “intern”. Also note a lack of “Drown Radio” printed anywhere within the pages of any major publication anywhere… Damn it.

For the record, I thought the article was awesome. Sure they didn’t cover jack shit about the scene, and a bunch of us had our hopes up that we might actually appear, but I think it was amazing coverage for those that made the cut, and excellent press for the nerdcore scene in general. My hits definetly went up, not by much.. but hey.

Speaking of chicks in print, check out Babes With Books (via). What a great concept, and it works on many many levels. I’d personally love to see some cute nerd thumbing through the instruction manual of a Casio DM-100. Here is a random cute pic from the page.

I’m finding a lot of good nerdcore related pages out there, I’ve got my favorites (GetLoFi Hipster Please) linked at the top, but I just found a great site call Nerd-Music.Com. Nerd music is quickly aqquiring good content related not just to Nerdcore Hip Hop, but also the best of the chiptune and micro-music scene. Good stuff so far, now, if I could just find the RSS button on it…
